When Wisdom Teeth Need to Come Out
Wisdom teeth are the last molars to come in, usually in the late teens or early twenties. There is often not enough room, so they can become impacted, grow at an angle, or only partly erupt. That leads to pain, swelling, repeated infections, crowding of other teeth, and a higher risk of decay because the area is hard to clean. When a partly erupted wisdom tooth keeps getting infected, you may feel recurring wisdom tooth pain that flares up and settles. Removing the problem tooth usually solves it for good.
